Research into costumes and make up

After watching numerous music videos from our chosen genre it is clear to me that the most of the females wear natural makeup and some wear none at all.

Above is a screenshot of Ellie Goulding from her music video ' Your Song ' , its clear that the female either has no makeup on or very light, natural makeup. After watching many indie music videos whilst conducting my research I found that it was a recurring theme that females had little to no makeup on, which may be because it takes the attention away from the actual lyrics of the song or the narrative being shown,


We have decided to follow this convention and have our female actress wear very little makeup during the bad stage / end of her relationship. However, we chose to have her wear much heavier makeup during the end of the video as we want to portray her empowering herself and taking care of herself rather than others .

Females within the indie genre usually wear casual clothes, nothing too dramatic compared to other genres such as pop. Nikita will be in very plain clothing, a mixture of dark clothing and light clothing to reflect her different moods as the video and narrative progresses.
